"Proof" refers to a special, limited edition version of American Eagles with a spectacular two-tone finish made of matte design features contrasting the flashy, reflective background and the famous "W" mint-mark for West Point.

The 2026-W 1-oz Proof Gold Eagle marks a historic milestone as the first "dual date" American Eagle ever produced, featuring both 1776-2026 on the obverse to commemorate the nation's 250th anniversary. Further commemoration is found in the Liberty Bell Privy Mark, also a first for a Gold Eagle. These unique features elevate the 2026-W Proof Gold Eagle above its more common brilliant-uncirculated counterpart.

This 2026-W 1-oz Proof Gold Eagle has been graded, certified and sealed by NGC in perfect Proof-70 condition as indicated on its accompanying grading certificate. A strict limit of only 25,000 of these one-ounce coins will ever be issued. Fifteen thousand will be sold as part of the four-coin set, leaving only 10,000 coins available for individual purchase.
