The one-ounce Elephant is the first platinum bullion coin issued by the South African Mint which is known and respected for its famous Gold Krugerrands, also issued in silver in recent years.

In an expansion beyond the Krugerrand program, the Elephants are the premier coin in the new “Big Five” Bullion Series which celebrates some of the most distinct South African wild animals including the Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo, and Lion which will be featured on future iterations that will change every five years.
