Celebrating one of Africa’s most famous and beloved animals, the striking Gold Elephant is the first gold bullion coin released by the South African Mint since the world-famous Krugerrand in 1967. It’s also the first issue in the new “Big Five” Bullion Series honoring the amazing wildlife of South Africa. Future designs will feature the Lion, Buffalo, Rhino, and Leopard with a design change every five years.

In contrast to the Krugerrand, the Brilliant-Uncirculated quality Elephants are stuck in 24-kt. (.9999-fine) gold. The elephant designs are finely detailed and complimented with creative features stating the date, country, series, purity, weight, and denomination (Fifty Rand).

Mint rolls are designed to hold 10 coins while smaller orders will often be packaged in protective plastic sleeves.
