In 2024, the US Mint is commemorating the 230th Anniversary of this landmark issue by bringing it to its full potential with modern minting technology with the highly anticipated 2024 Flowing Hair High Relief Gold Coin in the popular proof finish.

Only 17,500 were struck at the West Point Mint and they quickly sold-out. Each medal is over 1.2-inches in diameter, contains one ounce of 99.99% pure gold, and are struck in high relief which creates greater depth in the designs for a more 3D appearance. With modern reproductions of the vintage designs, it's amazing to see the Flowing Hair features in modern, high relief form. In addition, an interesting new feature has been added, the denomination is etched into the rim of the coins as "HUNDRED CENTS ONE DOLLAR OR UNIT.”
