Either way, we absolutely love it when we see movies where people are hunting for their own treasures. That’s why in today’s post we thought we would do something a little more lighthearted and share a few of our favorite movies where characters are in search of various treasures. The Goonies

A cult classic that was released in the mid 80s, The Goonies was directed by Richard Donner and starred Corey Feldman, Martha Plimpton, Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, and Joe Pantoliano. What many people don’t always realize is that Steven Spielberg is responsible for the story.

This film tells the tale of a group of kids in search of pirate treasure--perhaps some recovered shipwreck gold--and the adventures they find along the way. It’s a movie that practically defines the 1980s with its incredible story that is sure to put a smile on your face. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, rush out and find yourself a copy.

The Mummy

Rachel Weisz and Brendan Fraser star in the remake of a Universal Monsters classic. Many thought the film would be a flop, but The Mummy performed well at the box office and went on to spawn a handful of sequels. In the film, an adventurer and an archaeologist (played by Fraser and Weisz respectively) accidentally encounter a mummy.

Along the way, they come across treasure hunters, warriors, and yes, a mummy. At the end of the day, our heroes ride off into the sunset with plenty of treasure, making this a feel-good movie that’s full of action, adventure, and yes, plenty of surprises along the way.

Indiana Jones

It’s hard to pick just one Indiana Jones film to discuss because they’re all so great. Harrison Ford perfectly plays Indiana Jones, an archaeology professor who gets himself into a series of treasure chasing adventures. With his iconic bull whip and hat, Indiana Jones has come across a number of different treasures over the course of four movies, a spinoff television series, and a handful of books.

A new film is scheduled to release in 2020 and we’re looking forward to it optimistically. One thing is for certain--we’re anxiously waiting to see which treasure Indie hunts down this time and how he will manage to defeat the bad guys to get it!
