The Half Eagle was the first gold coin actually struck for the United States after being authorized to be coined by the Coin Act of 1792. The Liberty Head design was created by Christian Gobrecht and features a portrait of Lady Liberty encircled by 13 stars representing the first 13 colonies while the reverse depicts the famed Heraldic Eagle. They were struck at one of this U.S. Mints: Philadelphia, San Francisco, Charlotte, Dahlonega, New Orleans, Carson City, or Denver.
Grading standards for these $5 Liberty Heads are: About Uncirculated (AU, Trace of wear on tip coronet and hair above eye.) Each coin contains .24187 ounces of pure gold, they will have a range of dates. There are a total of 213 coins in the program with a combined mintage of 60,726,390.
