Marc Antony & Octavian Silver Denarius AU 4x4

This remarkable silver denarius was struck in 41 BC, during the turbulent years of the Roman civil wars, under the authority of moneyer M. Barbatius Pollio. It features portraits of two of Rome’s most influential figures—Marc Antony and Octavian, the future Emperor Augustus.
The obverse bears the portrait of Marc Antony, facing right, reflecting his power as one of the Triumvirs ruling Rome following Julius Caesar’s assassination. The reverse depicts Octavian, also facing right, his image symbolizing the growing partnership—and eventual rivalry—between these two towering figures of Roman history.
Certified by NGC in About Uncirculated condition, with an excellent Strike 4/5 and Surface 4/5, this example exhibits sharp detail and well-preserved artistry, making it a high-quality survivor from the late Republic.
Coins like this serve as tangible witnesses to one of the most pivotal moments in Roman history—the alliance of Antony and Octavian, which shaped the fate of the empire and ushered in the age of Augustus.
A rare and historically significant denarius, ideal for advanced collectors of Roman Imperatorial coinage.
